ADFA Redevelopment, Canberra

Richard Crookes Constructions · Canberra, ACT

Commercial window furnishings for the Australian Defence Force Academy redevelopment, built by Richard Crookes Constructions.

The Brief

Designed as a gateway building for future officers of the ADF, the Australian Defence Force Academy integrates academic and educational services for UNSW undergraduates. The facility features a 1,200-seat auditorium, indoor sports centre and live-in accommodation, delivered across ten work sites in a live defence environment.

Our Solution

Two hundred and twenty-seven chain-drive roller blinds across the campus — sixty-nine linked through the new teaching spaces, forty-nine in Building 3, fifty-seven across Buildings 8 to 11, twenty-seven more in the teaching blocks and twenty-five through the lecture theatres. Alongside them, fifteen Woven Image curtains on hand-drawn track.

The Result

The redevelopment enhances Australia's defence training capability with modern, flexible facilities, delivered ahead of time and on budget. Quicksew's window furnishings give the lecture, lobby and amenity spaces controlled light and privacy throughout.
