The Problem We Solve
Rooms without good curtains echo. They feel cold on winter mornings. The western afternoon sun bleaches your furniture. Ready-made curtains come in widths that are almost right but never quite, so you're left with gaps at the sides, hems that don't reach the floor, or fabric pooled in the wrong spot. The wrong heading makes a room feel cheap. The wrong fabric fades within a season on a west-facing window.
Custom curtains made by Quicksew are different from the first measurement. We specify track height (near the ceiling, always), fullness ratio, fabric weight for your room's orientation, heading style that suits your interior, and lining that protects both the fabric and your furniture from UV. When hung and dressed correctly, a good pair of custom curtains transforms a room immediately. That transformation is what we've been making in our Bathurst workroom since 1977.
Here's how to choose the right one for your space.
If you…
Blockout curtains, a heavy, tightly woven fabric or any face fabric with a blockout lining, prevent light transmission. Hung from near the ceiling with a correctly specified track, they transform a bedroom into a genuinely dark room. Essential for shift workers, young children, and home cinema rooms.

A sheer or light-filtering curtain gives you privacy from outside in daylight while keeping the room bright and soft. At night the effect reverses, so most sheer installations also include a second privacy layer. The most popular living-room setup: sheer behind, blockout drape in front on a double track. This double-curtain (sheer + blockout) combination is our most-requested layered look.

Floor-to-ceiling pinch pleat or wave curtains in a lined linen or heavyweight fabric, hung from a ceiling-mounted track. The fabric absorbs sound, buffers the cold air from glass on winter mornings, and frames the window beautifully when open. This is the setup that transforms a room.

Yes. A properly lined blockout curtain traps a layer of air at the glass, which slows heat escaping in winter and keeps the western sun out in summer. A thermal or blockout lining makes the biggest difference in cold-climate rooms and west-facing windows.
Sheers are soft, light-filtering fabrics for privacy without darkness. Blockout curtains are lined to fully darken a room for bedrooms and media rooms. Acoustic curtains use a denser, sound-dampening fabric to settle traffic and street noise. Many rooms layer a sheer with a blockout to get the best of both.
Yes. Every set is cut, sewn and finished to your exact window in our Bathurst workroom, in your choice of heading, lining and fabric. Nothing is imported ready-made. That's why the curtain falls to the right length and pleats evenly across the track.
You can choose S-fold (wave), pinch pleat, pencil pleat or eyelet, with box pleat and tab top available on request. At the free measure we'll recommend a heading that suits your fabric, your track or rod, and the look you're after.
