Regional hospital

Orange Base Hospital

Hansen Yuncken · Orange, NSW

Window furnishings for Central Western NSW's main hospital, built by Hansen Yuncken.

The Brief

As Central Western NSW's main hospital, Orange Base Hospital was a significant development for the region, a new 300-bed hospital with a 60-bed acute mental health unit and a 40-bed secure mental health unit, plus heritage refurbishment on the Bloomfield site. The project completed well ahead of schedule despite the building growing 20% during delivery.

Our Solution

The full hospital. Aluminium venetian blinds, roller blinds and window curtains in Materialised fabrics throughout, plus all of the bedscreen tracking and the bedscreens themselves, also in Materialised. Curtains and bedscreens hand-sewn in our Bathurst workroom, an hour up the road — which is how a hospital this size got measured, made and hung without a single interstate freight leg. We were still back fitting venetians and replacement bedscreens years after handover. Orange Base anchors years of work we have done in Orange.

The Result

The hospital provides modern care for Central Western NSW. Quicksew's window furnishings manage light and privacy throughout the wards, consulting and mental-health spaces.
