Off-grid cabin · Farm stay
A fully recessed, Somfy-motorised roller blind for an off-grid hilltop hideaway.
The hut sits on Wilga Station, the Keith family's 260-acre working sheep farm just outside Bathurst, run by three generations of the same family.
Perched on a hilltop with sweeping views over the Fitzgeralds Valley, the Farmers Hut is Wilga Station's secluded, 100% off-grid retreat for two. With a unique grass roof and a design tuned to hold a comfortable temperature year-round, every detail had to feel seamless. The window furnishings needed to disappear into the architecture, present when wanted, invisible when not.
We supplied and installed a fully recessed motorised roller blind driven by Somfy motors, concealed within the joinery so the blind vanishes when raised. Operated at the touch of a button, it gives guests effortless control over light and privacy while preserving the clean, uninterrupted lines of the hut and its valley outlook.
The blind delivers exactly the quiet luxury the Farmers Hut is known for. By day it tucks completely out of sight to frame the view; by evening it closes for warmth and privacy, all without a visible fixing or a cord in sight.
